As addressed in a speech by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the book launch of ‘Singapore Ageing: Issues and Challenges Ahead’ on 11 April 2023, PM Lee has mentioned that
"Our population is not just ageing, but ageing rapidly. In 2010, about 1 in 10 Singaporeans were aged 65 and above. A decade later, in 2020, it has risen to about 1 in 6. By 2030, another 10 years later, it would be almost 1 in 4 Singaporeans over 65."
To adapt to a rapidly ageing population in Singapore, the Government has evolved Singapore's built environment to adapt to the needs of seniors.
As such, more active ageing centers, senior day care centers in the HDB void decks and senior-friendly exercise machines in fitness corners are sprouting around Singapore to help ease Singapore into an ageing population with its easily accessible facilities suited for the elderly.

What is Senior Day Care?
A senior day care facility provides care to elderly individuals while also encouraging them to socialise and stay active with recreational activities and exercises. Meals and transportation for elderly living in the vicinity are available.
Elderly individuals can continue to live in their own homes and interact with others in the community, while receiving care at the centres in the day. They are provided a comfortable and safe environment which offers assurance to family members who may be away at work.
